Hiring a Senior Data Engineer.
In this position you will be responsible for the ongoing development of Zendesks data storage and analysis infrastructure. This infrastructure provides both insights into business and customers. More than a traditional internal warehouse we are looking to both to understand our own customers and also to give them the tools to improve their processes. We have a passion for metrics, measurement and analysis - you should too. We are big data people, we wont quibble with you over hardware as long as you can audaciously justify your vision.
Responsibilities:
Work with infrastructure team to enhance databases with historical usage and financial information
Develop new mechanisms for product management to gain insights into customer activity
Design and develop customer visible analytics dashboards.
Provide tools for finance to monitor and analyze customer growth
Improve our ad-hoc query capabilities
Make fascinating and useful discoveries by mining and analysing data
Technologies:
We work extensively with MySQL in Ruby on Rails and also have a growing MongoDB based analytics store. You should be familiar with these technologies (we can teach you Ruby!) You should also be comfortable working with large sharded database environments and developing creative solutions to address our ever growing data storage and analysis needs. An interest in machine learning is a definite plus.
