DESCRIPTION:
This company is growing quickly! This is a great thing for the company and also gives rise to a lot of interesting technical challenges. Do you want to work on problems at scale, involving thousands of queries per second? Do you want to help grow a site beyond a single database? Do you want to help us use memcache and Redis most effectively?

As a scalability engineer you will take the lead on many of these issues. We need to remove scalability bottlenecks and eliminate single points of failure in systems as diverse as search, mail processing and background job handling. We want to build an infrastructure not just so we can survive today but also so that we can expand tomorrow.

Were looking for a creative problem solver with a can do attitude, someone who sees simple solutions where others see complex problems. You know what it takes to deliver at scale and to keep a high quality of service. Youre very methodological and drive projects to the finish line and beyond.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, implement, and maintain application and infrastructure components
Analyze performance and proactively remove future bottlenecks
Introduce new technologies where necessary
Conduct design and code reviews
Interface with product, front-end and operations teams

REQUIREMENTS
Strong Unix/Linux experience
Excellent database or data storage system skills
Proven scalability experience
Strong communication and documentation skills
Previous start up experience a plus
Knowledge of Ruby on Rails is a strong plus
